ABB IRB 660 4-Axis Robot Features

Thanks to its state-of-the-art 4-axes design, customers can look forward to a speedy machine that combines a 3.15 meter reach with a 250 kg payload, making it ideal for palletizing bags, boxes, crates, bottles and more. In fact, ABB is set to reinforce its position as the sole global supplier of complete robot-based packaging line automation.

  • Reliable – High production up time
The IRB 660 is considerably faster than its predecessor. Its optimized motor power and motion performance ensure significantly shorter cycle times than competing products.
  • Fast – Short cycle times
    Standard packaging software
  • Accurate – Consistent parts quality
Outstanding position repeatability (± 0.03mm) and very good path accuracy.
  • Strong – Maximized utilization
High speed version capable of handling 180 kg at full speed, and at a 250 kg version for high through-put with 3.15 m reach
  • Robust – Harsh production environment
The robot’s rugged design and IP 67 tightness make for steady performance in even the toughest environments.
  • Versatile – Flexible integration and production
The robot’s impressive reach means it can service up to four in-feed conveyors, two pallet stacks, one slip-sheet stack and four palletizing out-feeding lines. In fact, the IRB 660 has the versatility, reach and handling capacity to meet the demands of just about any palletizing applications.

This robotic palletizer is optimized for fast point-to-point movement. It features four axes, a long arm for greater reach, (3.14 m/124”) and shorter cycle time to boost performance. Click here for the brochure

The IRB 660 comes in a high speed version capable of handling 180 kg (396 lb) payloads at full speed and as a 250 kg (550 lb) version for high throughput.

Easy to program, the palletizer can be adjusted quickly to handle different tasks.

The IRB’s impressive reach means it can service up to four infeed product conveyors, two pallet stacks, one slipsheet magazine, and four full load pallet outfeed conveyors.

To take full advantage of the programming software features that give the IRB 660 its high performance, the robot is of a highly robust construction based on steel castings. Each movement is controlled by energy efficient AC Servo Drives that distribute power between motors before consuming from the power supply.

IRC5 Industrial Controller (Dual Cabinet & Single Cabinet)

IRC5 is ABB’s fifth generation robot controller. It sets new standards with its modular concept, a completely new ergonomically designed portable interface unit, the FlexPendant and fully synchronous multiple (up to four) robot control through the MultiMove function.

  • The modularity of the IRC5 is a major step forward in robot control with a logical split of functions into control, axis drives and process control. This flexibility makes it possible to optimize cell layouts and to upgrade or replace one module with minimal interference to the others.
  • ABB's motion control technology is the key to the robot's performance in terms of accuracy, speed, cycle-time, programmability and synchronization with external devices.
  • The path accuracy of TrueMove and the short cycle time of QuickMove are corner stones of these user benefits. The addition of MultiMove strengthens ABB’s lead in advanced robot systems and functionality that enables the coordinated operation of up to four robots in a cell.
